WHAT IS INTUITIVE EATING?Eating Intuitively is the ability to understand what you need instinctively, without the need for conscious reasoning. Essentially, it’s the opposite of a traditional diet. It doesn’t impose guidelines about what to avoid and what or when to eat. Instead, it teaches that you are the best person, and the only person, to make those choices.
It is a way of relating to yourself, to your food, your health and your needs on a physical, biological, psychological and spiritual level. It takes us away from the Diet Traps of Restrictive Eating, Punishing Behaviours, Fighting Fat, Denying ourselves of nourishment to reach some percieved image of perfection. Each of us has a completely unique relationship with food. We have our past experiences, our current belief systems around our bodies, our worth and our thoughts about food. Intuitive Eating allows us to break down some of the limiting constructs that we have created around our eating behaviours, and allows us to come from a place of relaxed curiosity, self love and self acceptance and knowing. What forms our relationship with food, and how did we get so far away from our own Intuition? - Culture - Beliefs - Thoughts - Parents As the world we live in continually expands, our own ideas, customs, beliefs and social behaviours will also be shaped. It can be shaped by the people we have around us, our family, friends, the country we live in, the media we consume. There are many things that begin to mold us from a very young age. Food is a big money making industry, as are other industries such as fashion, medicine, surgery. We are exposed to advertising on a sub-concious level every day, The Diet and Health industry itself can often be a wolf in sheeps clothing, offering to solve all of your problems. Quick Fat loss Tools, Drop a dress size, Get a bigger booty, and then, and only then can you be happy. it is easy to see how we can get so far away from what we really need, what we really want to be happy and healthy. Take the recent trend around getting a 'Big Booty'. Now we see many women risking their lives to get fat drawn out of their stomachs, and injected into their buttocks because they believe this is the way to finally feel happier about themselves. They feel they will be more complete as a person. Did this come from a place of intuitively knowing what they needed? Or was this a belief system that they created, felt controlled by? Many of us are in the cycle of postponing our happiness until we reach that size, that weight, that shape. We have been conditioned to believe we are not enough, not pretty enough, sexy enough, skinny enough to what? To find love, to be accepted. So our bodies and our body image have become so intertwined with the food we eat. We have gotten further and further away from fuelling ourselves for vitality, for life, to create, to expand, to grow. It can then become this fear state around food. If I eat that piece of cake, I will be fat, I will not be loved or accepted. Our relationship with food over time has become more about feeling guilt and shame around desire, denying ourselves of nourishment and nurture, and hating ourselves for not being good enough. How do we reconnect to our own Inherent Intuition? It is important to note the place we eat from can have a huge impact on the bodies physiology. So what feelings are we eating to soothe, and what state are we in whilst we're eating. Self attack generates a physiologic stress response in our bodies, leading to hormonal imbalances, weight gain, compromised gut function and more. To tune into our intuition we will not only be looking at food itself, but we will be looking at our emotions, our relationships, our desires, our purpose, our daily behaviours. Everything you need to know is within you, it's just about now shedding the layers that have become a burden, to allow that deep knowing to filter through. Would you like to gain more helpful knowledge and tools around nutrition, science, health, psychology, whilst connecting to the magic that is within you? Trauma work and why it's necessaryMost people we work with tell us "I don't have any trauma in my life, nothing happened to me growing up, I had a great childhood". This is normal. We also felt like this for most of our lives. The word Trauma does not necessarily mean that some big event happened that you need psychotherapy sessions to process.
Yes, some people do have "big" obvious Traumas, but what can sometimes hold us back even more are the smaller traumas that we are not aware of. How can you deal with something you are not aware is there? We all live and relive through "traumas" almost every day. A lot of them are micro, so small you won't be aware of them. Did you know that every time you talk about a painful memory or trauma, you reactivate it in your emotional, energetic, and physical bodies? As you speak, or even think, about an old issue, you experience it as if it is happening right now. Since your subconscious does not know the difference between current experience and past memory, for all intents and purposes, the trauma or painful experience is happening now. When you re-activate old painful memories, your thoughts, words and emotions create a karmic energy that you unknowingly project out into your future. This karmic energy manifests in more of the same painful experiences, similar to the original issue. In other words, when issues come up without resolution, a karmic loop or pattern develops and validates your experience and beliefs around how you feel. This then feels like your truth or your reality. Each time this karmic pattern manifests in real life situations, you re-experience the original wound and the current hurt simultaneously. When this occurs, it is a powerful opportunity to listen to the past wounds and clear them by listening to and acknowledging the current ones in real time. Unfortunately, when an issue is re-activated, instead of using it as an opportunity to grow and clear out disempowering beliefs, many of us react by pushing the wounds down with numbing substances like food, drugs, internet, social media, TV, exercise, work, and a long list of other distractions. Ignored and pushed away issues get stored in the body, until we release them. The body obliges as a storehouse for emotional wounds but it does take its toll, especially if issues are accumulated for long periods of time. Storing wounds in the body eventually weakens the body and immune system and invites illness and dis-ease, as well as causing depression, fatigue, stress, injuries and weight gain to name a few. The good news is that the body is ready to release issues, the moment you are. When an unacknowledged issue is re-activated, don’t just push it down – take the time to finally listen to it. This means creating intentional space to feel your emotions and allow the issue to process through to resolve it in your system. Once you allow yourself to fully experience these emotions for the first time, without resistance, you will innately know what path to clear these issues is right for you. Wounds are meant to be temporary. We are not meant to spend our lives carrying around past issues and hurts. Anything that's human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be managed and then moved. When we can talk about our feelings, bring them to our awareness, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary every time we acknowledge them and give ourselves what we need in every moment. We are passionate about helping others uncover their patterns and shed the layers of themselves that are disempowering them and keeping them stuck and in suffering. Listening to yourself is the greatest skill you can ever learn. Read that again... Love Claire x HONESTY & SElF REFLECTIONH O N E S T Y & S E L F R E F L E C T I O N
I’m going through a massive “honest” phase at the moment. I feel like it’s coming from a space where I’m tired of people (myself included) not saying how they really feel or what they really think out of fear of what others will think or how others will react or judge them. We all tell ourselves stories everyday about “who we are” and “what we do”. In our very essence we are all the same, all made of the same stuff, all just trying to live a joyful life and experience great things. But we can get trapped by our stories. “I could never do that, I’m not confident enough” ... nice story. “I will never look like that, I’m not genetically gifted enough” ... nice story. “I will never be in her position, I’m Not talented enough” ... nice story. What if we take the time to rewrite our stories, even as we tell them, start speaking from a place of truth: “if I work hard enough, I can achieve that too” this is true. We often get caught up in just agreeing with what everyone has to say (positive or negative) even if we know it’s not how we truly feel...just to feel like we are on the same wave as them, feel part of a tribe that holds themselves to certain values that we agree with because people like to have people on the same wave as them. It’s why clubs and society’s and groups exist. We are social beings, we crave the feel good factor that comes with people agreeing with us. It’s uncomfortable to have someone disagree with you. But If you are honest there is no inner turmoil and if you tell people how you really feel even if it makes them and you uncomfortable it’s going to help you both grow and elevate and talk about things that are true instead of getting caught up in fruitless gossip. Honesty creates clarity and also makes you more respectable and builds your character. I’d be happy if when people think of me they would say "she spoke with convincing honesty about everything" the reason honesty is convincing is because it’s coming from a place of truth. There is nothing and no one to convince. It just “is”. So today and every other day for the rest of my existence, I’m practicing honesty in everything I do and say. Encouraging others to do this too ☺️❤️🙏🏼 more creates more. Tell me in a comment what is your biggest fear and how you feel about honesty, even give examples of how being honest made you or someone else feel....and I’ll reply Yours in truth Claire X HERE’S OUR TOP 10 TIPS ON HOW TO BRING BALANCE BACK TO YOUR BODY AFTER THE FESTIVE SEASON...
